About IPC

The Constitution of the Institute of Painting Contractors of KwaZulu-Natal
(Current as at 1 November 2006):


1. The name of the Institute shall be the Institute of Painting Contractors of KwaZulu-Natal hereinafter referred to as the Institute or IPCKZN.

2. The registered office of the Institute shall be Suite 15B2 Granada Centre, Chartwell Drive, Umhlanga, situated in KwaZulu-Natal, the Republic of South Africa.

3. The aims and objectives of the Institute shall be:

3.1 To strive for growth in the painting industry.

3.2 To promote quality in painting using the principles laid down in ISO9004 as a basis.

3.3 To develop a painting contractor’s Code of Practice for the painting contracting industry and to ensure that this code of practice is adhered to by its members as per Item 15 A – J.

3.4 To publicise the development of the Code of Practice to the general public and to professions allied to the construction and painting industry.

3.5 To achieve a greater measure of co-operation between paint suppliers, painting contractors and clients.

3.6 To do all such things as may be necessary to assist in the promotion and advancement of the interests of the painting industry.

3.7 To confer and negotiate with Government, Provincial Administrations or local authorities and their departments and all other interested bodies on matters of mutual interest, or likely to be of concern to the Institute or its members.

3.8 To be affiliated to or with any association or organisation as may be decided upon by the executive committee from time to time.

3.9 To release, waive, discharge or abandon any debts and/or claims of whatsoever nature or kind which the Institute might have at anytime against anyone whomsoever.

3.10 To open and operate banking accounts to draw, make, accept, endorse, discount, execute and issue promissory notes, bills of lading, bills of exchange, warrants, debentures or other negotiable or transferable instruments.

3.11 To invest and deal with the monies of the Institute not immediately required in such manner as may from time to time be determined.

3.12 To do all such other lawful things as may appear to be in the interests of the members of the Institute.

3.13 Funds available for investment may only be invested in registered financial institutions as defined in Section 1 of the Financial Institution (Investment of Funds Act 1984) and in securities listed as a licensed stock exchange as defined in the Stock Exchange Act 1985.

3.14 The intention is that the objects specified in each paragraph of this clause shall, except where otherwise expressed in such paragraph, be in no way limited by reference to or inference from the terms of any other paragraph of the name of the Institute, but on the contrary, each of such objects shall be given the widest possible interpretation and the Institute shall be entitled to do any matter or thing calculated to assist in the carrying out or the promotion of any of the foregoing objects in any part of the world.
